The Declaration of Independence declares that all men are â€Å"endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights† which enables all people to retain the freedom that they have all been born with. Since the foundation of the United States, the founding fathers sought to give all people the freedom that were denied to them by the oppressive, English government. The â€Å"rights† that the founding fathers mentioned were first only available for a small, privileged group of white males, but it eventually grows to encompass all different kinds of people. Her final thoughts reveal that women were beginning to come to the realization that no one owns them and that they do not have to follow societal expectations. The decision to take her own life was one made entirely for herself in order to gain peace without the interference of society. Furthermore, Edna’s death serves as a symbol of freedom and a call to action by sending the message that women should live the way they want to. The idea of rights for women dates back to as early as 1848 when The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions was written and continues to persist in the modern world. However, a full 50 percent of undergraduate part-timers clock in 20 hours or more per week, and these students are more likely to drop out of college than students who work fewer hours. As a result, more college students than ever, approximately 72 percent of undergraduates work part-time. Students who work part time face serious challenges balancing work with school, but in the process they may gain some benefits. Late nights, poor diet, alcohol and drug use, and a lack of exercise are a good combination for bad health. The stress of a student’s balancing act can bring on a host of mental and physical maladies and can exacerbate existing conditions. Anxiety, depression, substance abuse and eating disorders are just a few of the unintended consequences of trying to maintain an impossible schedule. And as they strive and fail, students may take additional hits to their self-esteem, feeling like they just cannot measure up to impossible standards. Limited finances can affect a students ability to budget school expenses. Some students go to college because of parental pressure or influence. However, others may go to school of their own volition and have little to no financial or emotional support from parents and other family members. But to get the most out of the experience, make sure you know your employment rights and what practicalities you need to deal with. This is a right you enjoy from day one of your employment.
